How Sketch to 3D Works
Sketch to 3D works by treating your line art or silhouette image as a heightmap: dark (drawn) areas are extruded to the full extrusion height, white or transparent areas remain flat (or absent). The result is a bas-relief of your sketch — a flat-bottomed 3D object where the drawn lines stand up as raised ridges, suitable for 3D printing as a stamp, nameplate, pendant, or decorative panel.
For best results, use clean black-on-white sketches, high-contrast logos, or silhouette images with no grey gradients. The tool thresholds the image at the midpoint (any pixel darker than 50% brightness is treated as drawn line), so grey antialiasing at the edges of lines will produce partial-height ridges. You can pre-process your sketch in any image editor to ensure sharp, clean black-and-white contrast before uploading.
